The challenge
Yazio is one of the biggest nutrition apps in the world. It does calorie tracking, recipes, intermittent fasting and fitness integrations, all in one product used in 150 countries. After years of growth the visual language had drifted, and buttons, type and colour rarely felt like they belonged together. The brand identity had moved on. The product hadn't caught up.
My approach
Koto handled the brand identity. I led UX and UI for the mobile app, taking that new visual language across hundreds of screens. A lot of the work was unglamorous decision-making: which existing patterns to keep, which to retire, where the new system needed to bend, and where the product team had a good reason to push back.
The result
The redesigned app shipped on iOS and Android with a unified component library, cleaner hierarchy, and type and colour that finally lined up with the brand. The new system gave the in-house team something they could keep using as Yazio kept growing. The app sits at 4.7 on the App Store and has over 100M users.
